End of the Road: AM Racing Officially Ceases NASCAR Operations
AM Racing has formally ceased operations, with Vice President of Competition Matthew Lucas informing employees that despite his efforts to stabilize the team, the inability to resume normal business activity left closure as the only option. The team had been absent from the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series since withdrawing from the Rockingham race at the end of March, with a planned sale of assets to Sigma Performance Services having already collapsed before the 2026 season even began. To their credit, AM Racing completed seven of their eight initially entered races, highlighted by a P3 finish for Nick Sanchez at Atlanta, but the financial struggle proved too great to overcome.

Preakness Results 2026: Napoleon Solo Stuns as 10-1 Longshot to Win 151st Preakness Stakes
Napoleon Solo pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the Triple Crown season on Saturday, winning the 151st Preakness Stakes at Laurel Park in Maryland. The 10-1 longshot took over the lead by passing hometown favorite Taj Mahal at the top of the stretch and held off Iron Honor and Chip Honcho for the victory. Napoleon Solo finished in 1:58.69, guided by jockey Paco Lopez and trained by Chad Summers. Napoleon Solo paid $17.80 to win, $9.80 to place, and $7.40 to show, while the trifecta paid out $597.10 and the superfecta returned $2,377.80. The race was held at Laurel Park for the first and only time, as the usual venue Pimlico Race Course is currently under construction. There was already a bit less drama heading into this year's Preakness, with Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo following the recent trend and skipping the second jewel of the Triple Crown. The victory immediately shifted attention toward what could come next during Belmont Stakes season.
